Ballroom, Latin, & Swing Dance Intensive Program

If you are interested in spending in-depth time with particular styles, the dance intensive is a great way for you to learn!

Dance intensive students structure their training journey based on their interests. While certification students have a strict path, the Intensive track allows you to pursue the dances that hold your passions. With a minimum 8 week commitment, you will be able to spend focused time on the steps, figures, footwork, musicality, and technique of the styles that interest you.

Dance Styles

Ballroom College focuses on 12 styles of parter dance. While there are many more than 12 styles out there, we have chosen the dances that most people will see out in the world.

The styles of dance we teach: Bachata, Cha-cha, Country Western Two-Step, East Coast Swing & Lindy Hop, Foxtrot, Hustle, Night Club Two-Step, Rumba, Salsa, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Waltz, and West Coast Swing.

While you will be able to pick the styles that you want to focus on, you will likely be introduced to some steps concepts in a few other styles in your time with us. This will be based on the Lead Teacher’s assessment of what will help your overall education in the styles you are focused on.

Dance Intensive Overview

We customize the dance you will cover in the Dance Intensive program based on your goals. How long a program might take you to complete depends on the style of dance(s), your experience, and how in-depth you choose to go. Below are a few terms you should familiarize yourself with as this is how we frame the conversation around your goals.

Time Commitment:

A Minimum 8 week commitment is required. The College currently runs:

Fridays: 4pm - 8pm and Saturdays: 10am - 2:30pm

Because learning these dance requires time, repetition, and focus, you will be required to come to both days. If you have a standing work commitment, let us know and we will see if we can work around it. We do this on a case-by-case basis with a focus on participants who can commit to a set schedule at a minimum of 6 hours a week.

Levels:

Foundations: The main focus at this level is on the leader & follower figures, footwork, and musicality. At this level, you will become comfortable with the most basic steps of the dance.

This is the equivalent of Bronze 1 & 2 in the dance world.

Continued Foundations: At this level, you have completed the foundations-level understanding of figure, footwork, and musicality for leaders and followers. Now that you are more familiar with the movement, as you continue to learn new footwork, we also put more emphasis on technique, posture, and performance.

This is the equivalent of Bronze 3 & 4 in the dance world.

Full Course: A combination of Foundations & Continued Foundations. Once you complete this level, you will have demonstrated personal proficiency in leader & follower figures, footwork, musicality, posture, and performance.
